Equal Opportunity Office

The Equal Opportunity Office (EOO) provides ongoing training in the prevention of sexual harassment to Western Washington University employees. Federal law prohibits sexual harassment in the workplace and in accordance with University policy; this training is required for every Western employee. The trainings provide important information on how to recognize what is and what is not sexual harassment and how to handle it if it occurs. The trainings also review the University’s complaint discrimination procedures to ensure that all employees are aware of their rights to file a complaint, should they be a victim of harassment. Specialized training in the prevention of sexual harassment for supervisors or other constituent groups is available upon request.

Human Resources

Our Professional Development program coordinates Learning & Development training opportunities primarily for the staff and faculty of the university. These opportunities are also open to university students as well. L&D classes include both Supervisor required trainings as well as an array of “electives” aimed at giving staff and faculty at all levels the professional and “soft” skills to lead others, be productive, and improve the quality or our workplace culture here. Learning & Development sessions are typically led by specialized professional staff, with occasional special faculty-led offerings. The list of offerings is updated every quarter based on demand and feedback. If you don’t see an offering to meet your specific needs, please reach out to us.
