Detailed Class Information
Class Name: Career Development II: From Career Concept to Career Ownership
Provided By: Human Resources Professional Development
Description: This is a next step in career development for WWU faculty and staff. The first workshop covered some tips specific to careers at Western, and then delved into identifying your own career concepts and goals, helped you uncover your unique strengths, and suggested setting development goals in line with your career goals and strengths. This workshop will build on the first by helping you understand your value on the marketplace (whether that marketplace be this campus or beyond) and identify ways in which you can communicate your unique value and build relationships that will further your career and help you add more value to the people you serve.
Objectives: Building from the career concept and the strengths you identified in the first session, this workshop will give you exercises and tools to address areas such as: identifying and communicating your "unique promise of value"; networking; informational interviewing; finding and working with a mentor; and other related topics.
